Helping the College-Age Student

Learning disabilities and attention deficits don’t go away when you graduate from high school. And sometimes new issues arise, such as anxiety, depression, or an inability to complete work. To make matters more challenging, your high school IEP or 504 Plan does not follow you to college. Colleges differ widely in the support they make available, but it is critical that you identify yourself to your school and advocate for appropriate supports and accommodations.
